Kids Rock Choir

Rock Choir is a non-traditional choir designed for youth ages 8 to 12. Members learn the fundamentals of melodic and rhythmic ear-training, intervallic recognition, solfege, breath-control, diaphramatic singing, and more.  Some prior singing is preferred, though not essential.  

Typical sessions begin with vocal warm-up exercises, followed by an ear-training or theory lesson.  The second part is usually dedicated to repertoire and sectional singing.  Over the course of a semester, songs are learned and rehearsed for a year end performance.  Past years have included material from The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Crowded House, Eurythmics, and others.  As the choir grows, a live rock band will be incorporated into the choir final shows.

Westside Youth Choir is an excellent value for parents looking to give their child foundational music skills and performance experience. 

Rates

$80 per month.  Choir lessons and rehearsals are held weekly and are 70 minutes in length.  Choir and ensemble perform near the close of the school semester.  Dress rehearsals may be needed near performance dates (not charged.)
