Westside Rock Chorus is essentially an ear training course, a group vocal class, and music appreciation class, all rolled into one. Chorus members will learn solfege (using do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti, etc,) and will be trained to identify intervals by ear. Exploring classic songs from the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Eurythmics, and others, kids will learn principles of melody, rhythm, harmony, blending, dynamics and group cooperation, which will culminate in an end of semester demonstration and performance.
We will be limiting this group to 10 members. A second group may be added if there is demand.
Don’t worry if your child is brand new to singing. We will be building a strong foundation of skills that will last a musical lifetime.
Cost: $85 per month.
Commitment: Participants must commit to the school semester. We will meet one hour per week with a couple of weekend rehearsals near the end of the semester.
Age range: 8-13
Time: TBD. Afterschool around 4:30 or 5 p.m. Aiming to start up mid-January 2024.
Additionally, I’m keen to do a 1:00 p.m. group specifically for home schoolers.
